Architecture as social catalyst     The transformation of the Silver Dragon World is a model of successful networking and cooperation, involving the pooling and optimising of human and material resources. The strong creative participatory work and continuous exchange with the pupils made the refurbishment an extraordinary assignment. The school became their school, a place they could identify with.
Owing to limited financial means the school, the neighbourhood management and Mrs. Hofmann were committed to finding
cost-effective production sites (training organisations and correctional facilities). Cupboards for the children’s coats and shoes, as well as seating areas, were measured and made in ample quantities for each storey. Aid money from the District Fund, Action Fund and Senate Administration for Urban Development were used towards the transformation of the school, within the support programme “Socially integrative City”.
