Working together to transform school into a “favorite place”    In order to become part of the school community, the Baupiloten set up a workshop on school grounds. 100 pupils were invited to film their favorite spots of Berlin. The Baupiloten initially edited the film material into 1 minute clips. The clips were refined by using collages and freeze-frames during continuous discussions and negotiations with the kids. From this process emerged 14 video installations entitled “Light Fictions”. With the help of multimedia artist Philipp Geist, the videos were shown in the old school building and its grounds - creating new spatial landscapes in both environments. The atmospheric qualities of these newly created spaces became the basis of the individual architectural proposals for the school’s core design.
