Water
Worlds The Galileo School and the Liebmann
School for the Speech Impaired share a building designed by the architect
Gino Valle for the 1984/87 IBA (International Building Exhibition). Together
with the Baupiloten, pupils from both schools developed the Water Worlds
project, thematically transforming the building’s different levels into
green for deep sea, red for reef and blue for the water’s surface. Pictures
created by the children were graphically rendered, enlarged, and placed
within the new lounge corners installed in the school’s hallways. Additionally,
the Baupiloten have also developed sound absorbing elements and light
displays with which the children can playfully “reclaim” their school.
