Tranquil Living on the Forest’s Edge, Student Residence Siegmunds Hof House 10

In the second construction phase at Siegmunds Hof Hall of Residence, House 10 is being energetically renovated and modernised. An extensive participatory process forms the basis of the design.

House 10 “Tranquil Living at the Forest’s Edge“

Sunset, city horizon and romantic views of the Spree, surrounded by the green of the roof gazebos; all of this is offered to the future residents of the ‘Hermit Apartments’ on the roof of House 10. The communal building is peaceful and recessed, which is amplified by the increasing density of the existing trees into a “small-forest grove” and the protective embedding of the building in a dense rhododendron field. Ground-floor terraces entwined in foliage offer additional view protection while extending the living space to the outside.
The installation of an additional communal kitchen and sanitary facilities on the typical floors, divides each floor into two smaller units of single rooms with associated common areas. Evenings are then: movie for “blockbuster and home movie” when in the screening rooms of the 1st and 2nd floor, the images flicker.
