| The bedroom is the first addition clipped onto the servicing spine. In contrast to the industrial aesthetics of the spine the bedroom aligns itself to the domestic qualities of the cabin. This we equated to the business of exposed framing members, precious exterior cedar siding, traditionally framed windows and a generosity of space. The entire bedroom is framed with white spruce 2’x4’s over white spruce plywood. The suspended bed platform, filtered ocean view and the higher finished floor level elevate the room into a perch. The seaward elevation is one large window (11’x10’) composed from several salvaged wood frame lights. The ceiling and remaining exterior elevations are punctured for specific and, or protected views. The service spine elevation bares its hot water tank to provide ample heat. |
