| The airtight stove assembly is the thermosyphonic “pas de deux” of the cabin. The airtight box – the climax of our servicing highlights- gives the cabin a space within its larger volume, which provides a focus, and intimate niche and a second heat source. The assembly of a cast iron stove, polished brass hot water cylinder and associated copper plumbing is exhibited within a clearly defined aperture. The four opaque sides of weathered mild steel sheet and black polished concrete are set against two large toughened glass panels to reinforce the notion of a lense. The dropping and skewing of this volume provides the users with a seat and particular view to the islands beyond. |
