die Baupiloten contribute to Deutschlandradio Kultur program „Die Provinz lebt!“

Cows grazing, meadows, and the idylic life: The countryside is often romanticized by city dwellers. In reality, many villages and towns both large and small are faced with problems of depopulation and the impacts of demographic change. Therefore new concepts are needed. What can the state, municipalities, and above all, citizens do in order to preserve and enhance the quality of life in rural areas? Meanwhile, a plethora of often successful small-town initiatives are working hard to improve their communities.

In addition to Reiner Nagel (Stiftung Baukultur), Claudia Busch (Agrarsoziale Gesellschaft Göttingen) und Berthold Menges (Director of the department Bauwesen at the City of Fritzlar), Susanne Hofmann of die Baupiloten BDA speaks about the example project Living and Residing as Seniors in Rural Areas in Dötlingen, touching on new concepts which could reactivate countryside areas.
